invasive species in florida

florida is the top state for having invasive species. there are over 1,000 invasive plant species in florida. although not all of them are bad some take over and kill native plants. also there are many animals that are non-native to florida. the invasive animal species that we know are the iguana, anaconda, and mosquitos.

the invasive plant species are very harmful to the native plants and animals. the old world climbing fern spreads its fronds like fingers and suffocates trees like the mangroves and the cypress. you cant cut them cause they grow back, you cant burn them without harminig other plants ,and you cant kill them with water because it can survive in water. these plants kill the trees which are some animals homes. this is truly a growing affect in the everglades.

although environmental scientists are trying to find a solution to the invasive plants in florida they have not yet found one. but for the inavsive species such as the anaconda and bermese python, they are having a hunting season to try and stop the spread of these species. also they are trying to stop people from dumping their snakes in the everglades when they get big. these are the solutions they have came up with so far.
